Women's cricket

Give it a go with Broadford

Fielding our first ever women's team was an achievement in itself, and the girls went from giving cricket a go to winning four games and playing in a semi final. The team is back in the Women's B Grade for 2026/27, and new players are welcome, whether you've played before or not.

  • Sunday games in the GDCA Women's B Grade
  • Beginners welcome, no experience needed
  • Led by Brooke and Nash, with help from Izy.

Our story

From the Seymour league to the GDCA

  1. 1960s

    A founding SDCA club

Broadford fielded senior and junior teams in the Seymour District Cricket Association from its start in the early 1960s.

  2. 2021

    New nets at Harley Hammond

A $100,000 state grant upgraded the four net training facility. Two of the nets are open to the public at all times, so anyone can come down for a hit with their kids.

  3. 2023/24

Into the GDCA, and a flag

The club moved to the Gisborne District Cricket Association to give its juniors a stronger competition, then won the Johnstone Shield in its first season.

  4. 2025/26

    Our first women's team

Four wins, a semi final, and a 3rd XI premiership in the same summer.

  5. 2026/27

    The next chapter

A young senior group with juniors coming through every grade, and the women's team back for a second season.
